Recently, researchers have found that seated Tai Chi classes are more effective for stroke recovery than traditional stroke rehab alone.
Tai Chi is a Chinese tradition of martial arts. It involves steady, slow, and precise movements that work your muscles, increase your flexibility, and improve your balance in a safe, controlled way.
For stroke patients, seated Tai Chi provides a safe environment for them to increase their activity levels, which in turn helps them recover faster and more effectively. In the study, patients discovered that they had better use of their arms and hands, more stable mental health, better balance, and improved quality of life after practicing seated Tai Chi for three months.
