Physical Therapy Month is a time to show your appreciation for the people who are devoted to helping others live healthily and free of pain. We believe that our physical therapists deserve recognition for their hard work and dedication. They are such an important part of many people's lives.
Physical Therapy Month began as Physical Therapy Week in the 1980s.1 In 1992, the week became a month and was pushed from June to October so that it would not conflict with the annual APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) conference in June.1
This month is an important holiday for physical therapists, healthcare providers, and APTA members. It provides a chance to educate the public on the health benefits of physical therapy. It also gives physical therapists more of a platform to tell people that they do not need to depend on medication in order to live their lives free of pain because physical therapy helps them live with less or no pain. Physical Therapy Month also provides another opportunity to draw attention to the need for physical and mental healthcare and self-care.
We're thankful for physical therapy and our physical therapists every day, but now is when we get to shout it from the rooftops! We'd love it if you'd celebrate the amazing efforts of our physical therapists with us.
