Dr. Abby Hendryx

Education, Memberships, and Certifications

Dr. Abby Hendryx graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Biology from Seattle Pacific University and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Personal Life

Outside of work, Abby loves to spend time outdoors with her husband, Conner, and their dog, Winston. She also loves to travel, read, and play D&D.

Why Physical Therapy?

Dr. Abby chose to become a physical therapist because she observed that physical therapists have the opportunity to get to know their patients. She relishes this opportunity because patients’ stories help her learn how to better treat them. Dr. Abby chose to work at Pain Science PT because she is passionate about the treatment of persistent pain, and to find a clinic where every clinician shares that passion is rare. She sees that every staff member at Pain Science PT clearly cares for the community they serve.

Specialties

Dr. Abby’s specialties include treatment of runners, foot and ankle conditions, and jaw pain. She is a Level 2 Running Gait Analyst. She has a passion for treating these types of injuries and pains because she knows how small, incremental improvements can make a huge difference in someone's quality of life. Dr. Abby firmly believes that your physical therapist should empower you to treat yourself! The more a patient knows about how their body works, the less they have to rely on healthcare professionals and the more power they have over their pain.

Patient Experience

Dr. Abby treated a young woman with a 10+ year history of headaches. Previous healthcare providers had been focusing on her neck and upper back, which was helping with lowering the intensity of the headaches, but wasn’t eliminating them. When Dr. Abby first did a muscular release of her jaw, pain drained out of her head and face. She told Dr. Abby that was the first time she had felt relief in years. Once Dr. Abby taught her how to maintain appropriate jaw muscle tension with exercises, she stopped having headaches altogether.
